Hello Medium readers,
Please note that the following is not a real restaurant but rather a playful test to demonstrate the application of permutation concepts to gamify survey design. My hope is to give you inspiration for your own survey designs.

Let’s dive in!

The Challenge:

In the competitive world of casual dining, customer satisfaction is critical. However, Choco-Eats (fictional) , a popular chain of restaurants, is facing a declining satisfaction due to an overwhelming menu making it difficult for customers to choose dishes efficiently.

Traditional surveys with static multiple-choice questions failed to capture the complexity of food pairing preferences. Thus, Choco-Eats needed a more interactive and engaging approach to gather accurate insights into customer preferences.

Proposed Approach:

To address these challenges, we will introduce a gamified survey with permutations. The survey incorporates three key elements:

  • Drag and Drop Dish Pairing:
    - Delivery: Users are presented with a selection of popular appetizers, main courses, and desserts. They are able to drag and drop each dish onto a virtual plate category, creating their ideal meal combinations.
    - Output: This generates data on preferred pairings across different courses, providing insight into users’ preferences.
